It all started August of 2015, since I have been at Strive schools since I was a 6th grader, moving from just Lake campus to the Excel campus didn't really feel as big of a change as it actually was. Coming in the first day of freshmen orientation was a little bit scary, not because I feel like I would get lost but because all of my friends got to be in the same advisory while I got to be in an advisory where the only person I knew was my advisor. Although if you know me now I am not shy, back then I would not talk to anyone especially since I did not know them. Little did I know, thanks to me being in Oregon advisory freshmen year I got to meet one of my best friends. Being in a school so small had it's pros and cons. I loved that since it was so small we had the opportunity to have great connections with our teachers and I’d get to know most of the students at the school. The negative side of it is that because we are such a small school rumors do spread quite fast. Throughout the 4 years there was a lot of drama, conflicts and problems with our teachers leaving mid-year. Even though there was a lot going on, for the most part I have always tried leaving the drama behind and be nice to those who were nice to me and I would try to keep my grades up. If I had a chance to go back to freshmen year and change my experience I would do things a little bit different this time around. To start I would be more involved since freshman year, once it came to my sophomore year and I got my car I would not start ditching as much as I did. As a result of ditching sophomore year and seeing that year that I wouldn’t get caught and my grades were still A’s and B’s, I continued to ditch which then eventually became not so great. My grades went down, I got caught and I had to start thinking about my future. I'm so glad that during my 4 high school years I had a couple of great teachers to help encourage me to try my best. Ms.Kuper was one of those teachers for me sophomore year she would make sure I was always in her first period class and it got to the point where I had a meeting with my parents and her where we talked about me having to be in class 100% of the time unless my mom excused me. Ms.Hernandez did a similar thing but since I did know her since middle school she contacted my parents as soon as she found out. At the time they had these meeting I didn't understand why they had to let my parents know what I was doing. I would get mad but after time passed I understood that they just wanted me to graduate and they cared about me. At the end of the day I am just so happy that I got to meet my two best friends and a couple of other good friends. There was great times as well as bad times here but I have learned to appreciate all of those memories.
